Cesar Manrique Foundation is situated close to Tahiche and was once the home of Cesar Manrique for over twenty years.
The building is constructed on two levels with five volcanic bubbles on a plot of 30,000 square meters. The bubbles were formed by volcanic eruptions from 1730 to 1736.
The upper floor has some local tradition architeture, on the lower floor the volcanic bubbles are linked together by corridors which were cut through the lave in order to make them habitable. there is also a small dance floor,swimming pool and barbecue.
In 1992 only six months after the foundation had been opened Casar Manrique was killed nearby in a car accident.
The foundation is open Monday to Saturday 10.00 – 18.00 hrs
Sunday 10.00 – 15.00 hrs.
